Origin
Pelvic symphysis, through the symphyseal tendon.
Insertion
Cranial border of the tibia (medial side) and, through its contribution to the common calcanean tendon, the calcaneal tuber.
Action
Adducts the pelvic limb, extends the hip, flexes the stifle and extends the tarsus.
Innervation
Obturator nerve (n. obturatorius).
Clinical relevance
Like the semitendinosus, it can develop fibrotic contracture in working dogs, mainly German Shepherd dogs.
